my girlblog is my art

Everything is embarrassing, I said to myself before launching my girlblog...
Monday (April 14) was my birthday and now I'm 25. The sun entered the same position it was in when I was born, and that inspired me to give birth to my new blogosphere: a new year begins!
I don't have big ideas for this specific presentation, so I decided to make a small ode to the things I love and adore. My idea here is to share anecdotes from my life, my passion for very specific things, and pretend I'm 14 and on Tumblr writing about the mysteries of the universe, as a form of escapism.
So, officially now, welcome to my new dimension of Tropiverse.

Let's start with them... The Beatles. To minimally understand my lore, we need to understand them! The Beatles emerged in 2012. And who created them was my guitar teacher: Thiago <3
Context: it was the height of One Directionmania, and I didn't come out unscathed. Quite the opposite: by cultivating the habit of reading fanfics (poorly written and by girls a little older than me), I convinced myself that if I learned to play guitar, regardless of being 12 years old and living in São Carlos, I would win Niall Horan's heart. And the one who would help me was him, Thiago, who also taught guitar to my brother.
Thiago was summoned, and upon entering my room, he found walls entirely covered with posters of Niall, Louis, Harry, Liam, and Zayn. It was then that the Psycho theme music started playing in his head. When I say "entirely," I mean there wasn't a single empty space on the walls.
The first classes weren't very exciting. I practiced some fingerpicking exercises, I must have learned a chord or two, but no playing Little Things. Until it was time to start preparing for a song. Here marks the moment I obviously started to suffer some kind of brainwash from Thiago (who was, naturally, a rocker). For technical reasons, the first song I learned to play was Jake Bugg's "Two Fingers."
From here, things start to get a bit blurry (due to the brainwash, of course, and not because 13 years have passed). Thiago and I started forming our bonding and we were a great duo: I, very curious about no specific subject, and he, a great storyteller. It's worth noting that One Direction was a (clearly) craze in my life, and despite having loved them with all my strength, I already liked rock. I was an active follower of the "Rock Wins" page on Facebook since the early days of that social network, and I had an older millennial brother who was somewhat indie — that is, all his interests were automatically mine, because everything he did, for some reason, was the coolest (?).
Back to it! In homeopathic doses, Thiago started teaching me some Beatles songs to practice on the guitar, and with the songs he introduced me to, he shared very fascinating stories about this group that I already knew and liked, but not yet with all my heart. Thiago was the type of Beatlemaniac who could identify who was who by their breathing before the music started, and I, a naturally obsessive girl, was conditioned to do the same.
In a distant era, when I still had time to intensely cultivate extensive knowledge on diverse topics, I delved deeper: reading biographies, listening to albums repeatedly and infinitely, and gathering information from all corners of the internet. Gradually, Thiago witnessed a transition: the faces of Niall, Louis, Harry, Liam, and Zayn were replaced by bowl cuts and black and white photos. Beatlemania was alive within me!
The lore is very extensive, so we'll revisit this topic and its various implications another time. In the meantime, leave a comment! Share it with a friend. I'll make a great effort to be here every Sunday sharing more details of my life with you, my darlings.
A kiss and some cheese,
